For too many people a warm coat is a luxury that comes after food and other necessary expenses. Coat drives not only benefit the homeless populations, but many who are simply having a hard time making ends meet for a multitude of reasons. This year during our 2017 coat drive we hosted an even more successful coat drive, collecting nearly three times as many coats and sweaters as last year's 2016 drive. We're so grateful to everyone in our offices who participated in making this drive a success!
We partnered with a national organization that works with local shelters and churches called, One Warm Coat, in an effort to help local Long Islanders who are in need of a warm coat.
By reaching out to our neighbors, coworkers, and families we were able to collect over 40 heavy winter jackets in like-new condition. After being connected through One Warm Coat to a local church on Long Island's South Shore, we then packed up the coats and headed out for delivery. Our CEO, John Dragotta, delivered the many coats, from children's sizes to XXL.
We feel very grateful to the people around us for their generosity and community spirit in helping us collect these warm winter coats. We're also thankful for the many organizations that came together, allowing these coats to go to the people who need them right now during this winter season.
